Hoeksema participated in the original feasibility study for Sleep Hollow, a restreat resort established in the early 1900's from fabrications made during the World Fair. Like a stage set, this architecturally documentated 'record' of the American story from the art deco movement so became a permanent fixture along Lake Michigan. Hoeksema led a team responsible for surveying the World's Fair buildings and established an energy feasibility plan book for restoring them for multi-seasonal use. This feasibility work later supported a 'replica' effort for the entire site, 20 years after Hoeksema's work.
