Abstract/ 1995

As an exploration of housing possibilities, Hoeksema developed this concept at University of Virginia during her graduate architecture studies. An intervention into the 'Jeffersonian' heritage of the university, she developed a derivative of the 'Jeffersonian lawn'.A sequencing of green 'places' determined the building locations. Vehicular traffic was limited to the front of the site, along the existing road, encouraging walking and preserving a safe pedestrian experience. The only exception was parking around the 'library'. The walking pathways were woven through the surrounding sites.
