Inspired by her thesis dissertation analysis on personal space in urban transit systems, this talk looked at how personal space is shaped within public architecture and how that defines our sense place. From Ms. Hoeksema's own work, to Cristo fabrications, to Herman Hertzberger Personal Space took the audience through a journey of a new way of looking at shaping place.

The exhibit featured urban scenery and was based on story telling through personal space in the city. Included in the exhibit were Ms. Hoeksema's archival limited edition prints of 35mm photography and computer animation generated urban transit montage work.

Ms. Hoeksema + HHEAL Gallery curated the exhibit 'Intimate Topography + Imaginary Photography' which presented visual commentary on how intimate personal experiences are shaped as well as commentary on the fine art process of photo realism.
Visit HHEAL Gallery/ Robin A.This exhibit 'Mythical Icons + Folks of Lore' curated by Ms. Hoeksema explored the world of icons and stories behind their rise to icon status. subject matter included historical characters like Mother Teresa, Marin Luther King, and Marylin Monroe. These people became notable for many reasons and their significance has shaped history. Kathryn's diptych transfer drawings of Greek Icons were acquired by HHEAL collectors.
Visit HHEAL Gallery/ MythicalHHEAL Galley curated dissectual Los Angeles, a fine art painting exhibit addressing women, place, and cultural sexuality perception. Translating imagery between personal and urban scapes this exhibit, like all of our HHEAL exhibits, was based on fabricating stories and narrative art.

Visit HHEAL Gallery/ Paradox'Spin Cycle' curated by Ms. Hoeksema and HHEAL Gallery was a show of HHEAL represented artist Erik and displayed photography from a 1 year documentary photo shoot of concerts at the Roxy Theatre in Los Angeles. About as close to pop culture as we get at HHEAL, this show drew a following having some of our patrons recognising friends and family in the photos.
Visit HHEAL Gallery/ Spin Cycle4D Egg Bridge was designed for a conceptual design competition hosted by the Art Institute of Chicago. The project site was Grant Park and the new pedestrian bridge was structured to connect the park with the Lake Michigan front. The project was exhibited at the Art Institute in addition to Southern California Institute of Architecture.
Visit Art Institute ChicagoAurelii Theatre was developed in response to a design compeition for a historical castle site in Egremont England. It was exhibited in Europe and published in Epoch Times as part of a feature editorial on Heather Hoeksema's work.
Visit Egremont England, Grizedale Arts'Grand Haven From the Air' was an exhibit developed by Heather Hoeksema in tandem with a gallery redesign project. The exhibit was work by Sy and included a film developed by Ms. Hoeksema to convey the artist's process including footage of the town of Grand Haven Michigan.
Visit Grand Haven MichiganLoop Stitch Bridge was developed for a real design competition for a pedestrian bridge to be built in Pittsburgh PA sponsored by Riverlife Task Force. The project was exhibited at Alcoa Foundation in Pittsburgh, at an exhibit at Carlyn Gallery called 'Personal Space', and at Southern California Institute of Architecture as part of an exhibit for Women in Architecture.

Reitveld Chair, otherwise known as 'Corner Chair', fabricated for patrons and as part of a teaching exercise, was exhibited at Southern California Institute of Architecture.
Heather Hoeksema was project manager for the design of Chicago Music and Dance Theater in Millenium Park. The project was widely published and exhibited in venues from the New York Times to Chicago Social magazine and continues to get international recognition for hosting world renowned theater performances.
Visit Harris Theater for Music + DanceMs. Hoeksema worked as junior designer for KMW for Kauffman Foundation for featured areas like the extensive pergola walkway, entry features, and Muriel McBrien Office Suite and conference area. The project was featured in numerous publications, including architectura record, and Ms. Hoeksema's design work was exhibited at the previous foundation headquarters during the design process.
